Services: Services for Distance Learning

The library is committed to providing the same level of services to students in distance learning programs as for students in on-campus programs.  This page details a variety of services for distance learning program classes and students.

Students enrolled in the following programs are eligible for these services:

1. Master of Education (M.Ed.) with Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) add-on licensure
2. Curriculum Instructional Specialist (CIS) add-on licensure
3. Dietetic Internship (DI)
4. Master of Arts in Criminal Justice

Distance learner access to online library resources

• All of the library's online journal articles, ebooks and other electronic resources are fully available to students off campus.   Students can access these resources at any time using their MyMeredith ID and password. Instructions on accessing these resources can be found in the library's FAQ. 

Distance learner access to print library materials

• Articles and chapters from the library's print materials can be electronically delivered to students in distance learning programs; if entire books are needed, these can be delivered by mail. Use these request forms to make your requests..

Research guides

•  The library's online Research Guides provide a curated selection of  the resources most useful to particular courses and majors, along with contact information for that subject's liaison librarian.

Interlibrary loan for distance learners

• Students in distance learning programs can make full use of the library's Interlibrary Loan service; the library will provide access to materials requested from other libraries either electronically, or through the mail.

Ask a librarian:  Chat, phone, email, and video consultations

• Librarians are available to assist with research and answer questions about library collections and services.   When the "ASK" desk is staffed, librarians are available by chat and by phone;  outside of desk hours, librarians can be reached by email.  Liaison librarians are also available for extended research consultations by appointment.  These can be conducted either by phone or by a video conference using Meredith's subscription to Zoom.

Research instruction for online classes

•  Librarians can deliver research instruction to online classes, either synchronously by video-conference, or asynchronously using visual presentations and web tutorials. If you are a faculty member interested in library instruction for your online class, please contact your department's library liaison.
