Meredith College Archives Collection Development Policy
The Archives, which is the official repository for institutional records of Meredith College and other historically valuable information, includes:

The library at Meredith College traces its history back to the opening of the school, formally known as the Baptist Female University. A library existed at the original Meredith College Campus from 1899-1925. The library moved along with the college to the new campus in 1926. From 1926-1969 the library was located on the second floor of Johnson Hall. In 1969 a new building was constructed to house the library. The Carlyle Campbell Library records contain materials relating to the Meredith College Library, Friends of the Library, Archives, and MCTV (Meredith College’s cable television). This includes newsletters, photographs, letters and emails, DVDs, receipts, funds, expenditures, news articles, policies, reports, committee notes, brochures, and programs.

James Carter Blasingame served as the first president of Meredith College (then known as Baptist Female University) from 1899-1900. The materials in his collection include correspondences, organized alphabetically, biographical information, and articles written about Blasingame during his presidency and after. The correspondences, most of which date back to 1899, are letters written to Blasingame concerning new students, faculty and staff positions, and other administrative subjects dealing with the opening of a new school.

The Meredith College Scrapbook Collection contains over one hundred and seventy scrapbooks and photo albums created by individuals, classes, clubs, organizations, and other groups associated with Meredith either currently or in the past. The scrapbooks range in dates from 1906 to 2014.
The Meredith College Vertical Files contain clippings, ephemera, flyers, brochures, and other secondary sources organized by subject. All subjects relate to people, places, and events connected to Meredith College and its history.
