Staying Strong: Information for Faculty and Staff

Message to Faculty and Staff

The library staff is available to help you in this during this challenging time.  Our building is open to you, while we continue to offer virtual services.

Services

Please follow Meredith Community Standards including wearing of face coverings and maintaining social distance while visiting the library

  • All Library Services points have been outfitted with plexiglass partitions
  • Furniture is arranged to promote social distancing-- We ask that furniture not be moved or rearranged.
  • Study rooms will have posted occupancy limits.

Study Rooms

All six study rooms are available for use, including five on the 2nd floor and one on the ground floor.  You may reserve study rooms on our Study Room calendar.  Each room's capacity is limited to the number posted by the door, either 1 or 2 people. If this is your first time reserving a study room, you will need to create a free account.  Also, in order to protect the health of fellow students, please be sure to clean work surfaces before and after each use.

Library common areas and equipment

Printers,  photocopiers, computers, paper cutters, and vending machines are available for use. Cleaning supplies are readily available throughout the Library and we encourage patrons to engage in frequent cleaning when using common surfaces, and to wash and sanitize their hands often.  Furniture has been relocated to facilitate greater distancing. There are signs to provide additional reminders on social distancing practices, mask requirements, and good hygiene practices.

  • Database and ebook availability unchanged
  • Research and Instruction Librarians are looking forward to working with faculty to provide library instruction in courses. Librarians and faculty will collaborate not only on content but also modality of the instruction.

Libraries across the world are suspending loans of books and scans of physical articles and book chapters because most staff are working remotely. Meredith interlibrary loan services will be operating on a limited basis, doing what we can to get resources for you. Let us know your information needs and we will get what we can. Note that the system will not be performing as rapidly or comprehensively during the pandemic.

Borrowing Materials

The Library bookshelves will be open for you to browse and retrieve your own materials.  Items may also be requested for pick-up. Requests for materials for pick-up can be made through this request form

Returning Materials

Library books may be returned at the exterior book drop located in front of the library or using the book drop inside the library during open hours. All AV materials, equipment, DVDs, and ILL books should be returned inside the library if possible. If you need to make special arrangements or have questions about returning a book or materials please use our chat service or our contact form.

For more information or questions about your account, contact Circulation Supervisor Erin Campbell (ehcampbell@meredith.edu)

  • The process for making an appointment has not changed on the user end. Students should continue to visit our MyMeredith page to access our appointment system.
  • Because the tutors are trained Zoom hosts, we are also able to offer faculty virtual facilitation assistance. If you are interested in having a tutor help you facilitate your zoom sessions, please fill out this form. We will be working as quickly as we can to help meet the needs you have with the resources we have available.
