I began my library career working as a page at Durham County Libraries and often worked with the teen librarian. I had believed that I wanted to be a teen librarian as I love reading Young Adult and enjoyed holding different types of programs such as Shrinky Dink Art, Spa night, and even a Yo-yo program. However, after taking my first cataloging course I found that my passion in libraries is cataloging and metadata. In our data driven world, it is crucial that those who are passionate about metadata are at the forefront of input and make discoverability and usability a priority. Our society is producing more data than ever before and it is important that we are able to find information we need in the most proficient way possible. I also have experience teaching information literacy to undergraduates and am an avid discusser of all things related to fake news. Random fact: I LOVE citations!
In my free time I enjoy reading science fiction, hanging out with my two cats (Dirt & Riot), and tending/whispering to my many plant children.
