Criminal Justice Oral History: Home

Welcome

Welcome to the Criminal Justice Oral Histories Project! This project will consist of audio/video/written interviews from various figures in Criminal Justice professions across the state of North Carolina to show the diversity of the field and answer important questions that people may consider when going into this profession. As the project grows, our hope is that we will be able to include Criminal Justice M.A. alumni in the project to show the diversity of our degree program and where members of our community have gone to work post-grad.

This project was created to give a platform to people in the Criminal Justice field to tell their stories and experiences to the next generation of people in this profession. Our hope is that through this project people will see the diversity of the Criminal Justice field and encourage them to choose Meredith for their Criminal Justice M.A. program, as well as have this project be a general resource for people wanting to learn more about people in the Criminal Justice profession across North Carolina.

Criminology MA

In a society where criminal justice and issues of safety and security are at the forefront of change and progress, the MA in Criminal Justice is essential. The program will assist in developing the desired skills of leadership, business, and supervision that will enhance working in management and executive positions in corrections, law enforcement, court systems, and security organizations. The examination and study of human behavior is central to addressing crime and justice issues, including the design of program and policy guidelines and developing and maintaining a sustainable workforce. This is a much-needed shift in focus as technology and the demands from the public of criminal justice institutions evolve. This program will focus on applications of various theories, policies, programmatic ideas, technologies, and leadership skills applicable to the broad career opportunities in the criminal justice and security industries to meet these changing demands.
