The CRAAP Test

Not all information is created equal. Use this handout on The CRAAP Test from Cal State, Chico to ensure the information you find is good enough to use. This CRAAP Test checklist hits the five main criteria for information evaluation: Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose.

Now, answer the following questions about at least two of the sites above:

  1. Does the site’s address suggest that it is reputable? Why do you think so?
     
  2. What do you consider to be strengths and weaknesses of this site? Why?
     
  3. Would you return to this site again and feel confident using it as a source for your paper? Why or why not?
     
  4. Were there problems with the site in terms of content? What were they? (Consider The CRAAP Test criteria.)
