After graduating from Meredith in the middle of a pandemic, I realized I needed to broaden my horizons outside of a career in public history, as we were living in a time when many museums, archives, and historic sites were closed to the public. I reevaluated the experiences from my time at Meredith I enjoyed most, and found myself thinking a lot about my time working as a peer tutor in the Learning Center, where I tutored History, Spanish, and Research. I enjoyed working one-on-one with students and with classes to help connect peers to the resources that would help them succeed. I found it very rewarding to help someone out in their time of need, especially since I knew all too well the stresses and fears of assignments, papers, and tests. I decided I wanted to return to this kind of work, while also leaving the door open to work in archives, and decided to pursue my MLIS at UNCG. At UNCG, I focused my coursework in both archival studies and academic libraries, which helped prepare me for my new job here at Meredith. I am so excited to be back on campus, now as a faculty member.
I am a native to the Raleigh area and grew up in Fuquay-Varina. When I'm not at the library, you can find me catching up with friends at our favorite local restaurants, or relaxing at home over Animal Crossing or an episode of Doctor Who.
