The idea behind convocations is that somewhere in a good education at Meredith a student should have opportunities to explore the big ideas of her time. Convocations raise important issues you may not get to explore in your major, or in the General Education requirements. In that way, convocations round out your intellectual and artistic experience.
Sometimes convocations will be required by instructors. But the real reason for convocations is to give every student a chance to hear and interact with the best and brightest, and to explore new ideas in community with other students and faculty. Every convocation can be an intellectual adventure.
