Political Science: Research Thinktanks

Introduction

Thinktanks are organizations that conduct scholarly policy analysis and produce reports.  Their objective is to better inform the public and government debate about important issues in the US and internationally.  They also advocate for their policy positions to both the federal and state governments.

Check some of the organizations below for research reports on your issues, but be sure to note whether their political leanings are liberal, conservative, or centrist, since this will shape the assumptions and conclusions in their reports.

To get started, try doing a keyword search in Harvard's Think-Tank Search tool, which searches policy reports from 1,200 thinktanks:
