Universities Studying Slavery: Meredith College

The first edition of A History of Meredith College was published in 1956. Former English professor and alumna Mary Lynch Johnson wrote a detailed history of Meredith College from its conception up until the mid1950s. The book details the people, places, and events that made Meredith College what it is today. A second edition came out in 1972, covering Meredith’s history up until the early1970s. The history from then up to 1998 is covered by A Vision Revisited by Carolyn Robinson.
