The Governor's Seat

On January 10, 2009, Beverly Perdue was sworn in as the 73rd Governor of North Carolina, and the first woman to hold that position. Her governorship is known for many things, including her usage of the veto throughout her four years. On her first day in the Governor's seat, Perdue signed a number of executive orders that would make the state government more efficient, more accessible, and more accountable in the eyes of the people of North Carolina.

During her time as the 73rd Governor of North Carolina, Beverly Perdue accomplished many things. One of her most notable achievements was protecting North Carolina's Military bases that were worth $18 billion. This also created over 300,000 jobs in the state economy. Perdue has always been very aware of the role technology plays in our society. Because of this, she created the NC Military Foundation. This organization focused on creating 21st-century jobs in defense, aerospace, and homeland security. She also launched the Green Business Fund which focusing on funding clean energy technology, alternative fuels, and green construction.
