Beth McAllister

Beth McAllister was born 1941 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She attended UNC Greensboro and later earned a Masters in Social Work from UNC Chapel Hill. McAllister had a successful career in public service, working as a school teacher, with the Council on Aging, with Meals on Wheels in Wake County, and with hospice services. She joined the ERA movement when organizations she was a part of, such as the Women’s Forum, the League of Women Voters, and the Women’s Political Caucus, began supporting the amendment. During the fight for ratification, McAllister served as president of the ERA Coalition and traveled the state recruiting supporters for the amendment. She passed away in 2020.
