When former Wake Forest chemistry professor Charles Brewer became president of Meredith College in 1915, the joke became that he would now preside over Angels rather than Demons. This is likely the earliest introduction of the Meredith Angel.

The new Meredith College campus was built on the outskirts on Raleigh on the old Tucker Farm in 1925. This is considered the source of the "Angel Farm" name.

In 1965, as part of a fundraising event for the new library, President Campbell, dressed as an angel, walked across campus with the residents of Poteat Residence Hall.
