April Nicole Harley was born on August 11, 1984 in Charlotte, North Carolina. A Howard University Alum, she has always been politically active, something that was inspired by her parents. She credits Senator John Edwards for her professional start in politics as she was an intern is his office in her early days of advocacy. As the Executive Director of Lead NC she recruits and trains candidates to run for office and is currently advocating for those who are traditionally underrepresented to be able to run for office.
